说道水龙卷，大家可能不怎么清楚到底是什么？

其实，水龙卷俗称龙吸水或龙吊水等。水龙卷(waterspout)是一种偶尔出现在温暖水面上空的龙卷风，

它的上端与雷雨云相接，下端直接延伸到水面，一边旋转，一边移动。饱含水汽快速旋转的气柱状水龙卷，危险程度不亚于龙卷风，内部风速可超过每小时二百公里。

今早[新加坡](https://www.sgcn.com/)全岛多个地区乌云密布下起大雨，南部更是出现直冲云霄的水龙卷，时间长达15分钟。

许多国人纷纷拍下奇观，在社交媒体上疯传讨论，有的网民甚至误以为水龙卷（waterspout）是破坏力更为强大的龙卷风（tornado）。

水龙卷实际上并不罕见，我国岸外的水域平均每年会出现三次水龙卷。

水龙卷一般由暴雨所致，由于云层下的气压较低，强力旋转的气柱会把海水吸上来，卷上天空灰暗的雷雨云，然后缓缓的移动。

水柱旋转的速度可达每小时28公里，一般只持续10多分钟，而且一着陆便因失去气旋的条件而消失，不会对陆地上的人造成危险。
