現在隨著藝術品市場的發展到至今，已經相對進入了一定的成熟期,價值的變動與經濟發展和金融趨勢息息相關,當然同時也受一些其他因素影響。根據目前全球經濟的形式來看、全球各國金融的市場形勢之外,地理政治和全球性的一些相關活動,也影響著買家和賣家的拍買和拍賣的決策。數據也有體現近年來各大拍賣行的成交金額和各拍賣公司收入都出現了不是很穩定性的狀態。
從世界各地藝術品拍賣市場數據來看,中國連續五年排名成交份額最高,而美國終於在2015年反超躍居第一,為全球藝術品拍賣貢獻了40%交易額,中國以26%緊隨其後,英國成交額占比19%。
不過中國藝術品拍賣行業到現在已經發展有30多年來了,相對來說一直占著有較好的發展趨勢,除了08年金融危機對市場的衝擊比較大在,這期間雖一直漲漲跌跌,不過這些波動都是在正常範圍，原因兩個，一個是我國對文物、藝術品拍賣行業政策的一個放鬆管制改動，促進藝術品行業的發展,97年中國大陸藝術品拍賣行由嚴格的審批機制改動為寬鬆的登記報備制，之後國內開始有了大批拍賣行創，這裡也符合常理推動了中國藝術品的民間拍賣交易，另一個就是中國改革開放後，拍賣市場的打開，為我國藝術品市場交易有了一定的規範化的二級交易平台，促使到了民間藝術品可以藉助拍賣形式進行轉換手，從而也開啟了了中國藝術品拍賣市場的時代。
還有就是我國藝術品拍賣市場一直有個5年左右的周期，因為藝術收藏品是稀缺性的，經歷一個拍賣大年後，可提供的藏品會逐漸減少，這些拍出去的藏品往往都是等到5年後左右才重新流向市場，我國上一次最高成交總額是在2011年，成交價達到553億，在這幾年的數據看來，這近兩年應該會重新迎來國內的一個拍賣高峰期。
