新加坡A水準相當於國內的高考，第一天考GP與KI，跟國內的語文地位有點類似，不過形式卻相差很大。
GP：General Paper。綜合英文測試，也有人根據其內容稱它為英文寫作與理解。
GP的目的是訓練學生閱讀學術性文獻，建立哲學性、批判性思維方式並書面表達自己的思想。
GP為必修課，屬於H1科目，滿分10分。

GP分為兩個部分：
Paper 1是寫一篇500到800字的作文，題目十二選一；
Paper 2是閱讀理解。
KI：Knowledge and Inquiry。知識與探究。
KI目的是培養學生在研究工作中理解各種探究模式，並將它們應用到所研究的問題中；考察知識構築的方法；學會批判性評價各種觀點和方法、清晰地表達自己的觀點。
KI可以代替GP，屬於H2科目，相當於GP+1H1，滿分20分。
所以修讀KI可以少讀一科H1科目，同時KI本身也是一個對比科目，就是說如果你是理科生，你就不用在人文藝術科目中再選修一個對比科目了。
KI大概可以理解為GP的進階版。

KI分為三個部分：
第一部分是寫兩篇分別為1000到1200字的文章；
第二部分是批判性思考；
第三部分為獨立研究，寫一篇2500到3000字的文章，時間為六個月。

在多大程度上失敗是成功的基本組成部分？
To what extent is the pursuit of continuous economic growth a desirable goal?
在多大程度上追求持續的經濟增長是一個可取的目標？

在一個科技飛速進步的時代，終身職業現實嗎？
"In the global village we inhabit, there is no justification for national boundaries.』 How far do you agree?"
「在我們居住的地球村，沒有必要劃分國界。」你多大程度上同意這個觀點？
To what extent is sporting achievement given adequate recognition in your society?
在多大程度上你的社會給了體育成就足夠的認可？
Do handicrafts still have value when machine-produced goods are so readily available?
當機器生產的產品如此容易獲得，手工藝品還有價值嗎？
"People today do not work as hard as they did in the past." How true is this of your society?「
