The Police have arrested a 27-year-old man suspected of involvement in a loanshark harassment case.
On 18 December 2025 at around 5:45 p.m., authorities were alerted to a case of loanshark-related vandalism at a residential unit along Choa Chu Kang Street 62, where threatening graffiti linked to illegal lenders had been sprayed on the wall beside the property.
Using footage from police surveillance cameras, officers from the Jurong Police Division quickly identified the suspect and made the arrest on 23 December 2025. Preliminary investigations suggest he may be linked to multiple similar incidents of loanshark harassment across the island.
The man is set to be charged in court on 24 December 2025 under the Moneylenders Act 2008. For first-time offenders, this offence carries a fine of between $5,000 and $50,000, up to five years in jail, and caning of up to six strokes.
The Singapore Police Force maintains a zero-tolerance stance toward loanshark harassment. Anyone who deliberately defaces property, causes public nuisance, or endangers community safety and peace will face the full force of the law.
The public is strongly urged to steer clear of loansharks and avoid any form of association or assistance with them. If you suspect someone is involved in illegal lending activities, immediately call 999 to report it.
